Google's plan to invest $100 million in new, original content for YouTube has taken a step closer to fruition as 100 new YouTube Channels are announced including ones from Jay-Z and Tony Hawk
The Google owned video sharing service YouTube has revealed it is to roll-out 100 new video channels each of which is set to provide new, exclusive and original content from a host of celebrities and media outlets.
Having pledged earlier this year to invest $100 million (£62.6 million) in original content, YouTube has revealed the 100 strong list of channels that are set to make up its new selection of horizon broadening bespoke content.
Set to be rolled out across the coming months the new, originally programming services will be responsible for a weekly offering of at least 25 hours of content.
"Our goal with this channels expansion is to bring an even broader range of entertainment to YouTube, giving you more reasons to keep coming back again and again," the company announced via its official blog.
With original content to be available for all tastes and interests launch partners for the new YouTube channels service include the likes of the Wall Street Journal, Reuters, TED, the Livestrong foundation and Red Bull.
Celebrities such as Jay-Z, Aston Kutcher, Madonna, Shquille O’Neal and skateboarding legend come gaming God Tony Hawk are also set to host bespoke content channels.
