Xbox 360 set for an update?

Microsoft spokesman says company is considering software updates to improve multimedia features.

In an online interview, Microsoft's Scott Henson has claimed that-the company is considering possibly improvements to the Xbox 360 software. Henson, who is director of Microsoft's Game Technology Group, refused to name specifics, but mentioned that the improvements are likely to be based on customer response. Top user requests include upgrades to the music player and support for streaming movie and music playback from all PCs, rather than just those running Microsoft's Windows Media Centre software.

Another possibility is that Xbox Live's Marketplace download service will be reconfigured so that it can run in the background while the user is playing games.

Henson also touched on HD-DVD (which will be supported by the 360 through an optional external drive in the future), confirming that there are no plans to release games on the format - it's going to be for movies only, at least in the foreseeable future.
