WWE slams its way onto Sky HD

Just in time for WrestleMania 24, World Wrestling Entertainment reaches the UK in wonderful Hi-Definition, as Sky launch more HD channels.

Are you ready to rumble? Because from March 17th, you can see The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and co lay the smackdown in crystal-clear HD.

The news comes as the satellite TV providers launch three new additions to their HD package, with Sky Sports 3, Sky Movies Premiere and FX HD joining the range.

All clichéd 'leotard-wearing-greased-up-dudes' mocking aside, WWE television continues to pull in some of the biggest ratings on Sky Sports.

The stateside grapplers began producing Hi-Def TV domestically in January, but the March 17th edition of Monday Night Raw will be the first episode shipped over to blighty.

Following that on the 30th March it's the granddaddy of them all, WrestleMania 24, which will be the first Sky Box Office pay-per-view event to be broadcast here in HD.

WWE claim they spent $20 million revolutionising their production values before making the switch. The stage sets for RAW and Smackdown have been completely overhauled and each wrestler filmed a new HD entrance video.

We're certainly interested to see if the extra clarity of HD exposes the nature of the industry a little too much, but for all you John Cena fans out there, he better find a new catchphrase because "You Can't See Me" isn't going to work anymore.
