World's Smallest Microwave lets you nuke at your desk
Just make sure you're not in the down-wind cubicle
Heinz and GAMMA Microwave Technology have taken the humble microwave into the 21st century by unveiling the World’s Smallest Microwave, powered by USB.
It measures in at 150 x 160 x 190mm, big enough for a Heinz Snap Pot of Baked Beans or a forgotten cup of tea. Your USB port provides all the power it needs to zap your food into steaming wholesomeness.

Apart from the obvious incentive of selling even more baked beans, its makers cite research that says 20 percent of workers pass up on lunch because they are too stressed to take time off. Or too bone idle to make a sandwich before work. Now they won’t have to: baked beans, spaghetti hoops, soups, Lemsip, mashed potato and many, many more insta-snacks will soon be accessible directly from your desk.
"It gives workers across the country a much needed helping hand to make some of their favourite hot snacks either on the go or at their desk by just plugging the microwave into the USB port on their computers," said a spokesperson for Heinz.
Prices and availability info is not available just yet, as the Micromicrowave is still in a prototype stage. Its makers probably still need to find a way of preventing people from leaving their fingers in it. GAMMA also envisions battery powered devices for outdoor purposes. We’ll keep you posted.
