Wireless battery charger for mobiles

Japanese telecoms heavyweight NTT DoCoMo has unveiled a 'connect-free' battery charger for mobile handsets.

NTT DoCoMo has revealed a prototype version of its 'connect-free' battery charger. This new technology is being developed in conjunction with Panasonic and will enable you to recharge your handset by simply plopping it onto or next to a charging station (pictured) without the need for any connecting wires.

This concept version is scheduled to be demoed at the Wireless Japan 2005 show later this week. As for when we'll see the connect-free battery in UK shops, it's unlikely to appear on shelves until 2006 at the earliest.-
