German car firm Volkswagen has agreed with its work council to stop sending emails via BlackBerry to its employees in non-working hours
VW stops sending emails to employees after working hours
According to this agreement, the BlackBerry smartphones of employees in Germany now automatically stop receiving emails when it is not their shift.
The email servers of the firm stop sending the emails 30 minutes before the end of a shift and start sending them again 30 minutes before the beginning of a shift.
This was agreed on earlier this year following complaints on mixing work and home life, and is currently being applied only to those working in Germany.
A spokesperson for VW said to the BBC: "We confirm that this agreement between VW and the company's work council exists."
