Vodafone introduces the pre-pay USB modem

Top Up and Go mobile web browsing

If the thought of another monthly outgoing leaves you cold, the new Vodafone Top Up and Go USB modem might be just up your street.

It's mobile broadband, but this time for you to top up as and when you need it. The initial cost for the kit is £39, offering £15 of credit (around 1GB of data) and 4GB of storage for your essential files. The data allowance should be good for around 30 hours of surfing, 650 emails or 65 music downloads.

All good? Well, not quite. A 1GB allowance is much cheaper with a contract, so it's all a bit 'swings and roundabouts'. If you want flexibility, it's here. If you're developing a mobile broadband habit, maybe a long-term deal is better.
