Blackberry Storm pre-orders near 100k
The UK still has a taste for Blackberry
RIM and Vodafone have succeeded in whipping up a new Storm with the launch of the latest Blackberry.
According to Vodafone demand has been in the "high tens of thousands" and pre-orders of the latest offering from the RIM stable are nearing 100,000.
The phone was officially unveiled last Thursday by F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton and will be available to buy from the 14 November.
Grab your Blackberry Storm next week
We're giddy as the school children waiting for the full release of the BlackBerry Storm. We've already flown out to Canada to rip it out of its packaging, plus we'll be rubbing shoulders with Lewis Hamilton today at the grand unveiling and we'll have a video up for you this afternoon.

Vodafone has happily agreed to pass them out for free on contract (albeit a looooong one) and now we're just waiting for the official announcement saying when the general public can get their clammy paws on these gorgeous gadgets.
Well, now we know for certain: it's out on November 14th. Sounds like a good reason to book next Friday off work and take a long weekend to play with it and revel in its new Copy and Paste function.
Why are we so excited about the Storm in particular? Well, this is the first proper consumer handset from handset manufacturer RIM, the same company that has been turning business execs into drooling smartphone addicts for years now.
It has a 3.25" touchscreen display that should give the iPhone 3G a run for its money, and it boasts a unique tactile feedback function that makes it feel like you're actually pressing a button while you jab at the screen.
Then you've got a 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS, media player and up to 16GB of storage on a card.
Sold? Then hit up the Vodafone pre-order website where you can reserve a handset now.

The Storm looks interesting, but in my opinion the iPhone wins on
AppStore (games and utilities), iPod (music, video and podcast playback),
on-board memory, size and weight, calendars and contact syncing,
as well as Connectivity (Wi-Fi) and Style (iPhone just looks better!)
Also, blackberrys require the RIM email service.
The iPhone's contract is only for 18 months rather than two years,
and also includes all-you-can-eat Wi-Fi, visual voicemail etc.
I don't want to take anything away from the Storm - it is looks like
a great phone, and I am glad of some proper competition.
The iphone is not perfect, and would be improved by a similar
clickable touch-screen and a better camera, but I say the iPhone
still rules (but it is at least fairly close).
