Free app offers free calls

Regretting the day you bought an iPod touch ahead of an iPhone? Well, at least you don't get slapped with a monthly bill for 18 months. And as an added bonus, you can also make calls with the so-called 'funnest' iPod if you download the Truphone for iPod touch app.

A simple set-up, you just need a microphone adaptor, a wi-fi connection and the Truphone app. Combine the three and you can make free calls to other touch owners, other Truphone users plus Google Talkers. If that's enough, free blabbing to Skype and MSN users is on its way too. Ok, it's not quite the same as having the real deal, but it is at least £35 a month less. And if that's not good enough, well, you know where the O2 showroom is.

Other features include 'low cost' calls to landlines (via a Truphone account), messaging via Skype and MSN plus Twitter and Facebook access. Get it now at the Apple App Store.
