Touch screen iPod for Christmas?
The Apple rumour mill grinds on. This week, it's throwing up more news about the widescreen, touch screen, video iPod.
According to an "extremely well-informed exec" at a third party iPod accessory firm, the Mac makers are preparing to drop the long-expected touchPod in December, just after the player's fifth birthday, and causing a stampede just before Christmas.
The latest subversive mutterings come courtesy of Trusted Reviews, who say the accessory firm know of the 6th-gen iPod in order to make new add-ons in time for its launch.
The whole affair sounds suspicious to us, especially given the lack of accessories ready for the second-gen nano at launch.
Only this week Teac went ahead with their announcement of new wireless systems for the nano, which are completely incompatible with the now month old second-gen versions.
Still, it's a nice thought in the run up to Christmas, although we're still expecting the daddy of all iPods to rear its head when Steve Jobs takes the stage at Macworld 2007. For those of you not keeping up, that's January 9th.
