Toshiba TG01 confirmed for Orange network

First announced in February, Toshiba's TG01 will go on sale tomorrow, writes Katherine Hannaford.

In one of this week's worst kept secrets, the Toshiba TG01 has been officially confirmed by UK network Orange, a week after it was accidentally displayed on the 'coming soon' section of their website.

There's surprising news however, with the TG01 going on sale tomorrow in the UK, a lot earlier than we were expecting. It will be exclusive to Orange for the first three months, and then after that we imagine it will be available on any keen networks who wish to pick up the super-fast smartphone.

Whilst it's free up front, the contracts start at £39.15 a month, on a 24 month plan. With that, customers can expect 1,200 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited internet browsing and Orange Maps.

If you need any reminder of how gorgeous the slim handset is, check out our hands-on photos and video over here. The TG01 has a 4.1-inch WVGA screen, HSDPA internet, Wi-Fi, GPS, DivX support, plus a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, the first mobile phone to boast one. It runs on Windows Mobile 6.1, however we're hoping that with 6.5 just around the corner, Toshiba will allow for updates.

Just three days ago Orange announced that the LG watch phone will be exclusive to their network, with CEO Tom Alexander claiming "at least three new market-leading devices [will] be unveiled by the end of the year". Could the Toshiba TG01 be the first unveiled?
