Toshiba Satellite A665 laptop gets HD 3D Blu-ray playback

Preloaded with 3D games for extra dimension enjoyment

HD 3D Blu-ray playback, quite the mouthful, more than quite impressive

Toshiba has unveiled the next generation, and dimension, of multimedia computing today as they announce the arrival of the world’s first 3D-ready, HD laptop in the Toshiba Satellite A665.

With an Intel i7 Quad Core processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM and NVIDIA 3D Vision GeForce GTS 350M graphics, the Toshiba Satellite A665 is a behemoth of an entertainment laptop capable of high end 3D and HD gaming and video playback.

To ensure that users are able to enjoy the Satellite’s 3D and HD potentials from the moment they open the box, the A665 comes packed with a pair of 3D Vision active shutter glasses and pre-installed with a selection of 3D games.

The 3D effect experienced with the Toshiba Satellite A665 is produced via an infrared signal synchronising the active shutter glasses to the 15.6” 3D HD TruBrite LED backlit screen. The sync uses the screen's 120Hz refresh rate playback to instantly alternate lens displays for different perspectives in each eye.

To ensure that the Satellite A665’s 3D HD credentials don’t dwarf its standard user experience, the Toshiba laptop has also been packed with multi-touch control, an in-built Blu-ray player/writer, and a Windows 7 Premium OS.

Due for release in July of this year, the Toshiba Satellite A665 will add another deadly string to its already impressive bow before the end of 2010 as a download will be made available making the machine capable of running 3D movies to Blu-ray standard definition. An exciting and eagerly-anticipated prospect.
