Toshiba REGZA SV LCD TVs head for the UK

The clever one in the house

Toshiba tells us that its REGZA SV LCD TV range is its 'most advanced' LCD ever. And who are we to disagree?

It's certainly a hefty beast, offered in 46 and 55-inch screen sizes and using Toshiba's Deep Lagoon design, which brings the screen flush to the frame, producing a finish every bit as eye-catching as the images it pumps out.

And those pictures really will be something to write home about. The SV series is the company's first with an RGB LED backlight, boosting the colour gamut and increasing the contrast ratio to a mind-boggling 2,000,000:1 for some seriously vivid imagery on-screen. There's also 10 Bit processing offering a palette of over a billion colours, Active Vision for smooth image flow, Resolution+ technology for upscaling to near-HD from standard definition sources and the inclusion of Toshiba's MetaBrain engine, which optimises the picture settings, taking into consideration room conditions and the content on-screen.

Want more? Well, how about DLNA technology for wireless networking from your PC, Dolby Volume (for consistent, high-quality audio), 4x HDMI slots, InstaPort technology for faster HDMI response, PC input, USB and for showing off your snaps, there's even a card reader. Eco friendly too, with an energy saving ECO panel and the option to switch off, rather than go to standby.

Get saving now, as the REGZA SV LCD TVs hit the UK market in August for what we expect to be a premium price.
