TomTom's petrol-finding Go Live x40 GPS

Track down a drop of the cheap stuff

If the TomTom Go Live x40 GPS lives up to its billing, it just might pay for itself in a matter of months.

That's because the Go Live x40 is the first GPS to feature a petrol price-tracking tool, flagging up the cheap stuff, steering clear of the premium-rate pumps. And it's up-to-date info too, updating as quickly as the price boards on the forecourt. Ok, you might use a little more fuel driving to the cheap garage, but the unit does find your fastest way to get there, so you should still be in credit.

And if there's a hazard on the way, you'll be the first to hear about it, thanks to the newly-introduced High Definition (HD) Traffic function. Not just a traffic report, TomTom reckons this is the most accurate and detailed live traffic information available, updated in real-time every three minutes. Which means you can hit that detour before the masses get wind of it.

The GO x40 Live series is available from mid-November 2008, prices starting at £299.99.
