The UK's first sub-£100 laptop
Elonex's kiddie notebook is called The One, which is exactly how many pounds short of 100 it'll set you back. Nice.
Aimed at the education sector, this is the best idea for motivating lazy children into learning their times tables, since lashing them repeatedly with wooden canes.
The One (surely a Keanu Reeves endorsement waiting to happen?) by Elonex has a 7-inch display (not sure if Keanu could 'endorse' that?), runs off a Linux-based OS and will give kids wireless access to email and internet from the classroom.
It'll also have word processing and spreadsheet applications included, along with a 1GB flash memory, 2 USB sockets, and internal speakers.
Elonex say their cheap-as-microchips laptop aims to remove cost barriers to schools in underprivileged areas, evening the playing field with the more affluent ones. A noble quest, supported by those good eggs at Downing Street.
No word yet on whether the new Resident Evil video game will be available for The One.
