Tech Week: T3 Awards winners and Phone 7 launches

Plus: T3 iPad app on sale and the best iPad apps available

Yet another busy week in tech has past us by, here are our highlight from the past seven days, enjoy.

News of the Week
The Gadget Oscars took place this week as the tech industry descended on Old Billingsgate in central London for the T3 Gadget Awards 2010. Having tackled the gadget glitterati on the red carpet for their predictions we settled back as a number of shock awards winners were announced. One such shock winner fell in the Gadget Personality of the Year award as The Gadget Show host Suzi Perry beat last year’s winner Stephen Fry to the coveted award. With all 19 awards handed out T3 caught up with the winners for their view on their newly claimed prizes. Elsewhere on the T3 front, the T3 iPad app has officially launched with a bumper interactive tablet mag available to download from iTunes here.

Whilst at the T3 Gadget Awards former personality of the year, Stephen Fry took to the stage with a rousing speech on the tech industry. In front of the 500 strong audience Fry revealed his white iPhone 4 to many murmurs of jealousy. Stephen Fry’s white iPhone 4 was not the only one doing the rounds this week as the repeatedly delayed snowy coloured handset was spotted in a US lift. Do these more frequent sightings lead towards an upcoming launch? Fingers crossed.

Although still waiting on the launch of the white iPhone 4, the top release of this week was one long in the waiting as Microsoft finally launch the Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system. Whilst LG tried to claim the Phone 7 limelight by jumping the gun and unveiling their LG Optimus 7 handset prior to Microsoft’s global announcement., they were shortly trumped as HTC unveiled its Windows Phone 7 offerings, all five of them.

The games industry has been up and down in the past seven days initially devastated by the news that the November 3rd launch date of Gran Turismo 5 is no more as the long awaited game faces yet be delays before being bolstered by the new unveiling of a Call of Duty: Black Ops trailer. Showing promise for the Christmas period, however, Microsoft faced one of the better troubles to be faced by a company as both GAME and then Amazon announced they had sold out of the Kinect gaming peripheral as Sony reported Move sales have topped 1.5 million units. Game on.

Reviews of the Week
The first Windows Phone 7 handset to be officially unveiled, the LG Optimus 7, is also the first Phone 7 device to be handed on to the T3 reviewers. Find out what we thought of Microsoft’s new mobile OS in the T3 Lg Optimus 7 full review. FYI, we like it, a lot.

Another first for our sharp tongued reviewers in the past seven days was the Toshiba Libretto W100, the world’s first dual screen Windows 7 laptop. With two screens is it twice as good? Well, no but read the Toshiba Libretto W100 review to find out why.

The only product to receive a five-star perfect score from the T3 team this week was the review for the Arcam rCube what is essentially the perfect iPod dock following three years of perfecting development from Arcam. Agree with our opinion? Read on and see.
