Tech Week: T3 Awards reach shortlist and Kinect priced

Plus: Windows Phone 7 hands-on and white iPhone delays

Yet another busy week in tech has past us by, here are our highlight from the past seven days, enjoy.

News of the Week
The T3 Awards have moved into their second stage this week. After you voted in your droves for the longlist of nominees, we have whittled down the possible winners to an elite shortlist. Don’t rest on your laurels, however, you can continue to vote for your favourite tech in all categories including the new Gadget Personality of the Year for who you think deserves the coveted prizes.

Apple’s iPhone 4 has a canny knack of making headlines continuously. This week the handset has had its ups and downs. Following Steve Jobs’ press conference last week Apple has started to refund customers who had already shelled out for a Bumper case. On the bad side, however, the Cupertino company has once again delayed the arrival of the iPhone 4 white saying nothing more than it will arrive “later this year”.

Microsoft’s Kinect motion control gaming peripheral is set to transform gaming with its controller-less abilities and this week Kinect was priced for the UK. Whilst its £129.99 price mark seemed steep to some, Microsoft came out and defended it. Announced with the Kinect pricing was a new 4GB Xbox 360 console followed later in the week by a Halo Reach Limited Edition Xbox 360 console. Lots of tasty treats for the Xbox inbound then.

Microsoft wasn’t satisfied dominating the gaming news however as it dipped its toes into stealing mobile headlines from Apple with reams of Windows Phone 7 news. After being impressed by a hands-on with Windows Phone 7 (see reviews below) we were informed that all Microsoft employees would be given a Phone 7 handset. This followed news that the OS would exclusively host searches from Bing, well, no surprises there, and the announcement of manufacturers lined-up to create handsets for the new operating system.
