Tech Week: iPhone 4 prices and Nintendo 3DS unveiled

It's been another busy and exciting week in tech land - here's a roundup of the week's top action:

News of the Week
Prices for the upcoming Apple iPhone 4 have emerged this week repeatedly stealing the daily headlines as the latest network providers unveil their handset and tariff charges. With Apple announcing the official iPhone 4 prices on Tuesday, Orange, O2 and Vodafone followed with their own charges. However, three UK networks confirmed to stock the Apple handset have yet to make public their tariff fees ahead of its June 24th launch.

The most exciting product to be unveiled this week has to be the Nintendo 3DS. Unveiled during company’s opening speech at E3, the Nintendo 3DS will bring glasses-free 3D portable gaming to the masses. It doesn’t look like UK gamers will be getting the 3DS in time for the festive period, however, an early 2011 launch looking the more likely.

Pushing the 3DS for the top unveiling at E3 was Microsoft’s Kinect device, a motion control peripheral for the Xbox 360. Previously known as Project Natal, Kinect became official during Microsoft’s E3 keynote speech with the device being unveiled alongside a series of Kinect compatible games and an accompanying Xbox 360 Slim console set to launch in the UK on July 16th.

The Samsung Wave, the flagship handset for the company’s new Bada OS, launched earlier this month to much acclaim. Whilst Samsung has gone on the record stating that it is their handsets aesthetics that will sell it to the masses instead of its new operating system, the Bada OS has been making some exciting appearances on a leaked video of a Samsung Galaxy Tablet. Confirmation of the tab is pending but an exciting prospect.

Reviews of the Week
Having launched in the UK earlier this month, we bring you a full review of the Samsung Wave smartphone.  The Wave, which is the first handset to run Samsung’s new Bada operating system, has our judging eyes cast over it coming out with a well deserved four out of five stars.

Also getting four stars this week is the Canon IXUS 300 HS compact camera. Have given a brief hands-on opinion of the low-light specialist snapper a couple of weeks ago, we now bring you our full review, scrutinising every inch of the device from its sleek design to its picture quality and everything inbetween.

Landing on our desk this week was the brand new Apple Mac mini. Getting hands-on with the new Mac mini we were happy to see that it more than lives up to its ‘mini’ title. To give you the best idea of just how small the new HDMI connectable Mac mini we have been kind enough to bring you a hands-on video review. Enjoy.
