Tech Week: HTC Desire FroYo update and 3DS review

Plus: Halo Reach competition and iPhone reception issues

Yet another busy week in tech has past us by, here are our highlight from the past seven days, enjoy.

News of the Week
Arguably the only manufacturer that looks capable of knocking Apple’s iPhone off its lofty pedestal at the top of the smartphone ladder, HTC has this week announced that it is to bring the Android 2.2 operating system update, FroYo to its top devices. That means good news in the US for HTC EVO owners and here in the UK those with an unlocked HTC Desire will be able to get a dollop of FroYo this weekend.

Halo: Reach creators Bungie have released a number of exciting insights into the upcoming prequel to the blockbuster game this week from new cinematic trailers and screenshots to the announcement of a celebrity competition and some exciting hands-on gameplay for T3.

3D is here to stay, or so many believe. In attempt to settle the 3D TV argument, T3 has trundled along to the filming of a 3D film in the form of the Philips funded Parallel Lines. Elsewhere in the world 3D TV, Sky this week declared the arrival date for its 3D channel, that date, well, read on and see.

Surprise, surprise the iPhone has been causing more problems for Apple of late and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by the T3 readers. As well has giving their opinion in the T3 Poll connected to Apple’s antennagate handling abilities, a number of Tweet-happy T3 fans have been in touch to confirm their issues with Bluetooth following the iOS 4.0.1 update. Nice to hear from you all.

Slopping over from reviews is Apple’s latest product, the Magic Trackpad. It might not pull a rabbit out of a hat of pull a coin from behind your ear the Apple’s Trackpad brings a new iPhone-esq multitouch approach to computer navigation. Apple also announced new iMacs this week but they aren't magic.

Reviews of the Week
The Nintendo 3DS is one of the most eagerly anticipated arrivals in all of gadget land this year. Snagging a hands-on with the glasses-free 3D portable games console, we have brought you one of the first reviews, hands-on pictures and video reviews anywhere of the salivatingly exciting pieces of tech.

Panasonic this week announced the world’s first consumer 3D camcorder in the snappily named Panasonic HDC-SDT750 and we were once again on hand to bring you a first impression review of the new device. Video accompanies the review, well, because we are nice like that.

Taking home four star honours this week for the vicious T3 reviewers was the latest HTC handset to take the smartphone market by storm, the HTC Wildfire. A younger sibling to the Desire the HTC Wildfire review delves into every nook and cranny of the handset to bring an all-round opinion.
