Tech Week: Gran Turismo 5 review and Apple MacBook Air

Plus: Windows Phone 7 launch and LG Optimus 7 review

Yet another busy week in tech has past us by, here are our highlight from the past seven days, enjoy.

News of the Week
Once again an Apple launch has created the week’s top talking point as the Cupertino company announce its latest luscious gadget in the updated Apple MacBook Air. All was not plain sailing for the 11-inch and 13-inch micro thin laptops, however, as shortly after launch it emerged the new Mac Air’s did not come pre-loaded with Adobe’s Flash software, a repeated bugbear for Apple fans. Bring you up close and personal with the Air, we at T3 brought you our own close up unboxing pictures of the new MacBook with iFixIt doing its usual trick of tearing the gadget apart to show you its innards.

A T3 VIP Reader Event was held at Selfridges’ London Oxford Street store this week with free entry given to any reader who wished to attend. On display alongside the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab and recently released T3 iPad app was the UK’s first consumer outing of Gran Turismo 5 in all its 3D glory. Readers came and competed on the long awaited racing sim with one lucky reader winning a copy of the game and a Logitech Driving Force GT Wheel for setting the game’s top lap time.

Another big release this week and subsequent headline stealer was the arrival of Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system. One of the first Phone 7 handsets to hit the market was the Samsung Omnia 7 with exciting pricing news on the Sammy blower emerging in the days preceding the platforms release.

Away from the launch of the new MacBook Air, Apple remained in the news by teasing the imminent arrival of a new computer operating system, OS X Lion. Elsewhere in Apple land, the company has reportedly sold more than 250,000 Apple TV units since the systems refreshed release recently and FaceTime, the video calling service for iPhone and iPod landed on Macs. A big week in Cupertino once again then.
