As always HTC is hot on the heels of Apple this week with a spate of new devices rearing their heads and rumours tantalising our eager and curious soles. Whilst we were pleased to see pictures of the handset, we were sad to learn that the HTC Desire white will lose its AMOLED screen for an LCD jobbie. Elsewhere on the HTC front the HTC Desire HD was spotted running the new Windows UI after rumours suggested it is one and the same as the T-Mobile G2 handset released in the US.

Away from the iPods, sort of, Apple this week launched the latest instalment of its mobile operating system as Apple iOS 4.1 launched for free download. Just hours after the launch, however, crafty hackers announced that jailbreaks for the latest iOS had already been achieved. Sorry Apple, maybe next time.
