Category aimed at providing gamers with easy access to alpha version games
Valve has announced that it will be introducing an Early Access category to its online store, Steam.
The Early Access category is aimed at providing gamers with an easy way of finding games that provide access to alpha versions of upcoming titles for a small payment.
Steam introduced the category with an introductory post, an FAQ, and links to existing games that are available such as Arma 3, Prison Architect, and Kinectic Void, all of which are at alpha.
“We like to think of games and game development as services that grow and evolve with the involvement of customers and the community,” reads the FAQ.
“There have been a number of prominent titles that have embraced this model of development recently and found a lot of value in the process. We like to support and encourage developers who want to ship early, involve customers, and build lasting relationships that help everyone make better games.”
