Amid a pair of new Android releases at MWC, Sony Mobile says it will also bring the impressive Xperia Ion handset to the UK
While Sony outed two impressive looking Android phones in the Xperia P and the Xperia U on the eve of MWC 2012, we also learned the company will be bringing another one of its recently-announced devices to the UK.
When Sony announced its first non-Ericsson branded handsets at CES in the shape of the Xperia S and the Xperia Ion we were a little jealous that the arguably more impressive Ion was only scheduled to launch in the United States.
However, Sony Mobile has corrected that perceived ill by confirming the 4.6-inch 1280x720 handset will in-fact be a global phone and will come to the UK this summer.
The Android 2.3 device, which will be upgradable to Android 4.0 soon enough, headlines with a 12-megapixel camera a 1.5MHz dual-core processor and an NFC chip.
The US iteration of the device is also fitted with an LTE radio, but there's no indication UK users will require a 4G-enabled device until at least the turn of the year.
