Sony unveils NW-S730F Walkman
Nice player, shame about the name
With new a iPod nano and touch almost certainly incoming, Sony has refreshed its own media player range with the appallingly-named NW-S730F Walkman. I's guessing you've forgotten that name already.
Aside from that obvious flaw, there's not a lot wrong with this latest effort - although there's not a lot to get excited about either. If you're on the hunt for a stand out feature, direct encoding from CD or the long-forgotten Mini Disc format is certainly the one. Aside from that, this is MP3 playing by numbers, with extensive audio and video format choice, a 2-inch LCD screen, 16GB of memory, an FM radio and noise-cancelling headphones.
It hits Japan in an endless colour choice (each with a matching leather case) from October, which means the UK might see it around December. Unfortunately for Sony, we'll all be playing with our new nanos by then.
