Sony stalls on PS3 compatibility
Hoping Sony's all-powerful super-console will play your old PS2 games? Sony says it 'aint so simple.
You're sitting on a pile of PS2 games. You've offloaded your previous console and made space for Sony's shiny black gamesmaster in the front room. You're all set, right?
Wrong! Sony says its new console won't play all your old titles, so it might be worth a quick trip to ASDA for a retro-'station quick smart.
Our buddies over at CVG had a chat with Sony, only to be told "rather than concentrate on PS2 backwards compatibility, in the future, [Sony's] resources will be increasingly focused on developing new games and entertainment features exclusively for PS3."
It means you might have trouble re-playing all your old favourites, even though Sony say they'll continue to update PS3's firmware to make more retro titles compatible.
The lesson we've learned from all this? Keep hold of your old consoles, you never know when you might need 'em!
