Sony MDR-DS6500 headphones unveiled

New top-end cans pack in 7.1 surround sound

Hefty headphones set to hit shelves at the end of May.

Sony has just shown off its spanking new MDR-DS6500 wireless headphones. The new cans are all about home listening, with 7.1 channel surround sound skills and CD quality audio smarts, that despite the fact they’re cable-free.

Sony’s Virtualphones Tech ensures sound is recreated perfectly when watching TV or listening to tunes while you’re kicking back on the sofa. You can even tweak surround sound settings depending on what you’re listening to.

There’s even a sleek charging dock, which takes three hours to fully juice the DS6500s. You get 20 hours of listening before they need another boost.
