Sony launches WiFi BDP-S760 and S560 Blu-ray players

Meet the new HD Reality Enhancer feature. Fancy.

Sony has launched two new Blu-ray players featuring the most impressive set of specs we've seen from the company's high definition offering to date.

The top-of-the-range BDP-S760 (£340), and the mid-range S560 (£240) both boast WiFi connectivity allowing easier access to the developing, online-based BD-Live features on many high definition releases.

Both players also feature a six-second Quick Start feature, which is great news as, like the earlest DVD machines, some of Sony's players take as long as a minute to even get near a menu screen, let alone load a movie. There's also a headphone jack with multi-channel sound.

But where does the extra £100 come into play? Well, the S760 claims to upgrade your HD viewing pleasure even further with the oddly named HD Reality Enhancer and Super Bit Mapping functionality. These features claim more realistic colour reproduction and a smoother 1080p picture.

Both machines have HMDI 1.3, Dolby True HD sound and are available to buy now.

They sound awesome. I have been very happy with the Bluray quality through the PS3. Would love to see the differences for myself, but certainly can't justify spending out again when the PS3 is more than adeqaute for me at the moment, especially as my TV is only 720p.
