Sony launches the W180 and W190 Cyber-shot cameras
All the features, less of the bulk
Two new compacts are heading to your local camera shop courtesy of Sony, the W180 and W190 Cyber-shot cameras.
When Sony says 'outstanding quality and value to suit every pocket', we suspect that means entry level and if that is the case, you do get plenty of features for your money and indeed, in that rather sleek and slim body. Pretty much the only difference between the two models is the pixel count, the W180 is a 10.1-megpixel mode, while the W190 tops it with a 12.1-megapixel sensor, both offering 3x optical zoom and up to 18x smart zoom for getting up close and personal.
On top of that, both pack a 2.7-inch Clear Photo LCD screen, enhanced face detection, which is now able to grab 8 of your mates in one shot, throwing in some fine-tuning too for better exposure, along with a smile shutter to ensure everyone is grinning like the proverbial Cheshire chat. There's also SteadyShot image stabilisation to compensate for a shaky hand, an ISO of 3200 for seriously detailed images and software for ease of uploading stills and video (yes, it does that too).
Choose from silver, black or red colour finishes, all expected on the shelves in July, perfect timing for that late summer break.
