Sony knocks £40 off PS3 price tag
Is a new PS3 looming?
Just as we were becoming resigned to Sony's failure to budge on the still hefty price tag of the PS3 before Christmas, it seems they have had a momentary change of heart, having reduced the PS3 console by £40.
Head to the Sony Style store and you will notice that 40Gb, 80Gb and 160Gb models now start at £249.99. Rumours also linger that the Sony festive spirit could continue with a possible 80Gb version bundled with LittleBigPlanet being available for an attractive £279.
Whether this generosity will be extended beyond the festive period is uncertain, as Sony have previously stood firm on the current pricing of their console.
Here at T3, we think there might just be a bit more to this sudden price slash, with the possiblity that Sony are looking to cash in on their current model with a new slimmer Playstation 3 on the horizon.
If you have been holding out for that glimmer of a price cutting hope, make your way to the official Sony Style website pronto, alternatively with the prospect of a new PS3 on the way, a little more waiting will do you no harm...
Widespread rumours of a planned price cut in March next year have been quashed by Sony, in spite of the pre-Xmas discount.

Still not the best prices in the universe, play.com have packages with games and bluray movies for £299, don't sony realise that a lower price results in more games being shifted, I thought that was were the profit was to be made?
