Sony has given its biggest hint yet that the Sony PS4 will support the company's upcoming 4K download service.

Speaking to The Verge, Sony Electronics President and COO Phil Molyneux said "I promise you will not be disappointed" when asked if the upcoming PS4 would support the service.

He also revealed that the first wave of 4K downloads would be huge at around 100GB or more per movie depending on its length.

Molyneux admitted that current broadband speeds and and the file sizes themselves would be a challenge at first, but said that the company is working on better compression standards to combat the problem.

Sony has confirmed that many of the PS4's services will be download-focused with users able to start playing games before they've even downloaded.
