Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 finally getting FroYo

Customer rep lets slip juicy detail about X10

Unloved X10 about to get a taste of FroYo, just as Gingerbread takes a bow.

Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10 has been strung out on Android 1.6 since its launch, with Android 2.1 Donut only recently making its way to the mobile maker’s supposed flagship device.

And despite gossip that that would be the last update the phone would be getting, news comes from the wilds of Turkey about a further boost to the now outdated Android 2.2 FroYo. A customer services rep there has let confirmed that the upgrade will be coming to the phone, but not until the second quarter of 2011.

That’s a lengthy wait for those who bought the top end device this year. By April 2011, it’s likely that Android Gingerbread will be old news and 3.0 Honeycomb will be the latest thing.
