Everyone knows that the most expensive and sought-after advertising slot in the world is during half time at the Super Bowl, and last night Sony Ericsson paid through the nose to get its Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play Android smartphone right there. The minute-long advert, the same as was leaked last week (and is below), acts as official confirmation of the handset also known as the PSP Phone.

The Android-running XPeria Play ad showed the phone doing its gaming thing, with Sony Ericsson announcing that the official unveiling will take place at 6pm GMT on February 13th, during Mobile World Congress 2011.

The handset sports a slide-out set of physical gaming controls bearing the official Playstation buttons, plus a couple of touch-sensitive joystick alternatives. Little is known about the launch games, but they’ll be available through the inbuilt Playstation Suite software. Stay tuned for our coverage of the official announcement.
