Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 launched, X10 updates detailed

Sony Ericsson has unleashed the Xperia X8, a budget Android aimed squarely at the midrange market.

The company also announced that the Xperia X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro will get an upgrade to Android 2.1 in autumn this year, while the flagship X10 will get HD video recording enabled at the same time.

The X8 is essentially a scaled-up X10, with scaled down spec, the X8 fronts a 3.2 MP camera, 3-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen and an “accessible price point.”

Weighing in at 104g, the 99 x 54 x 15 mm block sports a 600MHz processor, onboard memory of 128Mb – expandable to 16Gb – and direct integration with Facebook.

Available Autumn this year, the X8 will come in a variety of funky colours, including Aqua Blue and pink.
