Music-centric Android phone from Sony Ericsson announced

Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman release confirmed as the music-centric Google Android handset is announced

Sony Ericsson has officially unveiled a new music-centric Android smartphone with the 3.2-inch Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman confirmed for a Q4 release.

Set to launch later this year running Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread mobile operating system the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will land sporting a 1GHz processor and deep ingrained Facebook integration alongside a 3.2-inch 480 x 320p resolution display.

Boasting a 5-megapixel rear-mounted camera with 720p HD video recording capabilities the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman is to host a dedicated Walkman button providing instant access to the handset’s Sony xLoud optimised audio experience.

“Consumers want smartphones to deliver a rich and social entertainment experience. Rather than a one dimensional music experience,” said Nikolaus Scheurer, Head of Product Marketing at Sony Ericsson. He added: “They want instant and seamless access to new content, combined with the ability to share and connect with their friends.”

Sony Ericsson’s unveiling of its latest music orientated handset comes a week after HTC revealed it had brought a controlling stake it audio specialist Beats to help further enhance its handset’s audio experience.
