Sony Corporation’s new President and Chief Executive Officer, Kazuo Hirai, ended Sony's keynote press briefing at IFA by unveiling a gigantic 84-inch XBR-84X900 TV. The device is Sony's biggest screen announced to date and features 4K resolution, passive 3D playback and a 10-driver speaker system.
The new screen comes equipped with a 4K LCD panel comprising approximately 8.29 megapixels - delivering 4 times the resolution of Full HD standard. It also comes armed with Sonye's X-Reality PRO’ super-resolution high picture quality engine, which enables users to reproduce a variety of content - including movies, TV programs, photos and games to 4K quality. Sony also says the new XBR-84X900 can be controlled through Sony's Media Remote app with a smartphone or tablet.
Sony have not yet announced a price for the new XBR-84X900 or a release date. The announcement was part of a packed presentation at IFA, where Hirai unveiled a whole host of devices, which he said showcased the company's vision for the future.
