The excellent Sonos audio system has done away with the need for a PC to get your tunes playing loud and proud with its latest iOS app update.

Previously, Sonos users would need to have music stored on an accessable NAS drive, but now the company is clearly taking the lead from Apple's AirPlay technology.

You can also instantly play tracks or podcasts bought from iTunes on your mobile device without having to import them first.

"Simple, clean, and seamless, favourite tracks and artists are available instantly in multi room, Hi-Fi sound, putting an end to situations where music may sometimes never leave an iPhone or iPad," said Sonos in a statement accompanying the app update.
