Skype for iPhone: iOS 4 version outed

Multitasking support for VoIP app official

3G calls, multitasking and Retina Display tweaks, but no video calling just yet.

Skype has just given its iPhone app the iOS 4 treatment. The new version of the VoIP add-on now supports multitasking, letting you make and receive calls while tinkering with other features on your Apple blower.

What’s more, you can even receive calls while the phone is locked. Of course, you’ll need to make sure lengthy chats with mates half way across the world don’t add up, unless you want a bank-balance destroying data bill at the end of the month.

Skype has also added fancy new graphics which take advantage of the iPhone 4’s Retina Display. However, there’s no room for video calling, with Fring remaining the only app to offer such a service over 3G.
