Sky Sports for iPad app gets second screen experience

New update means users will get more in-depth coverage of matches, teams and players

Sky Sports’ popular iPad app has received a new update for the Premier League season, bringing users real time and in-depth coverage of matches

The new second-screen experience went live yesterday in time for the Wigan vs. Chelsea match, which marked the opening of the Barclays Premier League.

Offering access to match day stats and detailed player profiles, the companion experience aims to target the growing number of TV viewers who use their tablets as a second screen.

David Gibbs, Director of Sky Sports Digital Media, commented that the new feature was inspired by the success of the Formula One and Masters second screen experiences.

The app’s new ‘Football Match Centre’ will accompany all live broadcast Premier League matches, and is available to Sky Sports customers free of charge.
