Short wait in PS3 queue
Official launch of Sony's new console attracts just a few hardcore punters.
Still yearning for a PS3, but haven't bothered preordering one and can't be faffed with tiresome queues? Fear not! Virgin's official PS3 launch has so far attracted just 13 desperate gamers, so you can safely say that if you're having a few beers in the area tonight and fancy grabbing one on your way home, you shouldn't have a problem.
We've just taken a stroll through the, rather sparse, 'campsite' and had a chat with Virgin's Stephen Lynn. He wouldn't give us a specific figure, but said they've got 'several hundred' in stock. He expects, maybe somewhat optimistically, to shift the whole lot by midday Saturday.
Punters are passing the time playing Motorstorm and shooting the breeze with the swarms of snappers and press. Still, it seems Virgin is keen on getting more bodies through the door before midnight.
The message seems to be, if you want a PS3, it's there for the taking.
