Shazam iPhone and iPod touch app gets major update
iOS 4 multitasking now built into brilliant Shazam app.
Music discovery tool Shazam has launched a major new update to its blockbusting iPhone and iPod touch app to incorporate iOS4 multitasking and much more.
The app, which has been one of the most popular in the history the app store listens to tracks you don't know the name of and searches a database to provide a song title, artist and album.
A new incarnation of the app launched today allows users to begin tagging songs from start-up, to help if you're fumbling to catch the tail-end of a song. It now also supports multitasking so you can keep the app open while making calls.
The new preview section also makes it easy to listen to portions of the song before hitting a link to buy from iTunes or watch on YouTube courtesy of multiple video tags per song. You can also share the link via Facebook or Twitter.
Another new feature is the addition of Shazam charts, delivered to your handset, while will inform you of the most tags tracks of the week.
The upgrades are compatible with the free version of the app or Shazam Encore which offers unlimited tags for £2.99.
