Sennheiser's gym-friendly Sports II earphones

High performance, no sweat

If you're breaking a sweat in the gym, there's every chance that your earphones are taking it in too, making them pretty much unusable in a matter of weeks. Unless you happen to be packing something from the Sennheiser Sport II range.

The Sport II are built for sports activities and built to last, with the range offering sweat and water-resistance, the option to wash after use and in some cases, earphones that are virtually unbreakable (just in case you accidentally sit on that gym bag). The only earphones you'll ever need? Quite possibly.

Take your pick from five designs, all with powerful neodymium magnets for balanced, detailed sound reproduction and good for using with every pocket-sized gadget you own. In terms of specifics, the MX 80 Sport II includes the Sennheiser Basswind system for powerful bass response, an asymmetrical cable and rugged earphones for £25, the MX 85 uses a 'twist to fit' system for a better fit and promises 'detailed sound reproduction' for £35, while the OMX 80 is a bass-heavy, clip-on earphone for that same £35 price tag.

The PMX 80 is aimed at the runner, packing a back-band design that 'never falls off', a single-side cable, rear reflector and enhanced sound, again for £35. The CX 380 tops the range, offering a noise-isolating ear-canal system for outside noise reduction, the option to wash under the tap and a secure fit for £50. All should be on the market for summer 2009.
