Samsung Yepp YP-P3 media player gets official unveiling
Takes aim at the iPod touch
No doubt referred to an an 'iPod beater' in some quarters, the Samsung Yepp YP-P3 media player has made its debut in Korea, with an expected appearance on UK shelves in early 2009.
The super-slim aluminium player is certainly playing to the iPod touch crowd, packing a greasy finger-friendly 3-inch touchscreen, along with haptic feedback (just so you know you've hit the spot). Aside from that, the YP-P3 ticks all the usual boxes, and more with audio and video playback, an FM tuner, photo and text viewing, a built-in speaker and Bluetooth 2.0.
There's even a long battery life (up to 30 hours) and a choice of storage from 4GB to 32GB. What more can you ask? Well, a price we suspect. Sadly, that's not available for these shores as yet, but in its homeland, the player retails from the equivalent of £115. If that's the case over here, Samsung might well have a contender on its hands.
