The enemy is at the gates, and the mighty logo of Samsung is on the flag.

With 13 nominations in 19 catagories Samsung will be hoping to take on Apple in T3's 2011 Gadget Awards posing the question, could this be Samsung's year?

With the likes of the 7-inch Galaxy Tab setting the bar for Android tablets, it remained quietly efficient while bigger and faster rivals were released such as the Motorola Xoom and the LG Optimus Pad.

Samsung then released the Galaxy Tab 10.1 with Android Honeycomb, a dual-core processor and a hefty 8MP snapper on the back. Then finally and most recently we saw the release of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 update and 8.9, both the slimmest tablets on the market, beating even the Apple iPad 2.

This dominance of our awards nominations is not just from appearing in the Tablet of the Year category but elsewhere with Samsung scoring nominations in Digital Camera of the Year, Computer of the Year, TV of the Year and the T3 Design Award for it's stunning 9-series laptop. Finally of course is the Galaxy S 2, considered to be the closest to rival the iPhone 4 and in some eyes, surpassing it.

With it's constant encroachment into Cupertino's territory through a raft of products and the hugely impressive UE55D8000 LED 3DTV almost setting the bar for high-end 3D TV's, is this the year of Samsung? Vote now here and let us know what you think on Facebook and Twitter.
