Samsung introduces luxury Ego GT-S9402 handset
The Ego has landed - if you have cash to splash
Not too long ago, we mentioned that Bang & Olufsen was pulling the plug on its mobile operations, leaving soul mate Samsung out in the cold. Well, the Korean giant has picked itself up, brushed itself down and knocked up a luxury handset all of its own. And that phone is the Ego GT-S9402.
At first glance it could be one of the equally expensive (and equally dull) Vertu phones, but Samsung has upped the stakes a notch with a 'liquidmetal' composite alloy case, three times stronger than the oft-used titanium cladding. And the spec is a step up too, the Ego offering a 5MP camera, 2x sim slots for workaholics or adulterers, Bluetooth 2.0, 1GB of storage and a microSDHC slot.
Yet amazingly, this Ego has landed without either 3G or Wi-Fi connectivity, which is likely to limit its appeal to the captains of industry. And as Samsung is hardly a logo to flash down the millionaire's club, you do wonder who this is actually aimed at? With a price tag of £1,000, we suspect a very, very niche market.
