A steady flow of leaked information has followed the first sighting of the Samsung Galaxy Tablet last week. The latest edition to the list, news that the device will run on Google’s Android 2.2 OS Fro-Yo.

The emerged rumours would also have the Galaxy tab touting a 1.2GHz processor in its three 7, 8 and 10-inch bodies. If true, this would make the Samsung Android tablet faster than Apple’s iPad.

Leaked via an image on the official Samsung South Africa Twitter account showing the 7-inch Galaxy tab alongside the new Samsung Galaxy S smartphone, it is believed that the device will be named the Samsung Tape when released in September of this year.

Packed in alongside the 1.2GHz processor and Android 2.2 OS will be 16GB of built-in storage, expandable up to 48GB through a 32GB Micro SD.

From the leaked image, you could be forgiven for thinking that the Samsung ‘Tape’ was styled whilst its designer gazed longingly at the iPad, with its speedier processor and Android 2.2 however, this could be the muted ‘iPad killer’ that many have been waiting for.
