Would-be Samsung Galaxy Tab owners are an hour closer today to getting their hands on Sammy's iPad-bothering Android tablet - so long as they pick it up from the Carphone Warehouse. On the day of launch (Monday 1st November), five Carphone Warehouses will open their doors early to appease the expected clamour of customers.
The five Carphone Warehouse branches - which will open as early as 8am - are the 272-274 Oxford Street and Centrepoint Oxford Street stores, the Cornmarket store in Oxford, the Commercial Road store in Portsmouth and the Princesshay store in Exeter.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab will be available to the early birds (and everyone else, for that matter) for £499 with a £10 rolling contract, or £529.99 SIM-free.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab comes packing a 7" multi-touch touchscreen which Samsung claim makes it ideal for use as an e-reader, a 1GHz processor, front and rear-facing cameras and an expandable 16 or 32GB of storage - all at near-as-dammit half the weight of Apple's iPad.
