Move over Apple iPad, the Android-powered Samsung Galaxy Tab is here. Even the London Olympic Games says so.
The London 2012 Olympic Games has chosen the Samsung Galaxy Tab over any other tablet, including the Apple iPad to promote the high-profile event. To be used as a high tech tourism tool, the Samsung Galaxy Tab will come pre-loaded with an app from December onwards, that will share information on what one can see and do all over Britain. The app has been developed for VisitBritain.
The custom-made app will offer information on accommodation, trips and entertainment ideas. It's also available for download on all Samsung smartphones. The expected target is 25 million mobile phones.
The choice to plump for Samsung over others is not that surprising when you realize that the company is the worldwide wireless communications partner for the 2012 London Olympics.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab went on sale two days ago with a variety of prices to choose from. The cheapest is at £99.99 for the tablet and £40 every month for two years. More options are also available.
Do bear in mind though, that the games are in 2012. A lot of technology can be developed in 2 years. Perhaps another tablet could be in the running for the hot spot of official Olympics Games tablet in a year? Watch this space.
