Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 headed for UK launch?

UK launch of Samsung's 8.9-inch tablet expected shortly

Samsung’s 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab could be one step closer to hitting European markets after German retailer Amazon.de leaked the mid-sized tablet’s price as €606 (£529).

Believed to be heading for a June release, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is set to touch down running Google’s Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system, a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and, as its name suggests, an 8.9-inch display.

Whilst it is unknown weather the Galaxy Tab 8.9 being touted on the German Amazon is a Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi + 3G model, the site renowned for leaking launch details on leading tech products ahead of their official announcements has the model listed as sporting 16GB of internal storage.

Speaking exclusively with T3, Samsung has remained cagey around the tablet’s official release with an official spokesperson for the company declaring: “Samsung will announce the UK availability for Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9 in due course.”

They added: “We are currently in discussions with the UK’s major network operators and retailers, who will in turn determine pricing.”
