With the news of an increased 1.2GHz processor leaking yesterday via the company’s Estonian Facebook page, Samsung UK has now officially confirmed that the incoming dual-core smartphone will drop its previously announced 1GHz offering for a new, market leading 1.2GHz powerhouse.

Currently unknown whether the new CPU will be of the Nvidia Tegra 2 variety or one of Sammy’s own brand chips, it is believed that the 1.2GHz device will be limited to certain markets, including the UK, when the device finally lands.

Officially unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona back in February the Galaxy S II, which will follow on from the hugely successful Galaxy S, is set to land with a healthy array of specs including an 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera capable of 1080p Full-HD video capture, a second front-facing snapper, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display and a stunning slim form factor that measures in at just 8.9mm thin.
