Samsung announces world's first AMOLED screen compact camera
Samsung introduce the WB100, WB500 and PL10 compact cameras
Not ones to dwell on what's likely to be a major trend for the year ahead, Samsung delivers us the first compact camera to boast an AMOLED LCD screen.
The compact in question the WB100 will carry the first 3.0" screen, that should rightly dump the TFT head first in the water, with the ability to harness greater contrast and a brighter screen for your pictorial pleasure. What does this mean to your snapping I hear you say? Well the 960k pixel screen will make those tricky night and day pics a subtle breeze, while reviewing your pic-grabbing skills will get that finer pixel treament.
Next on the Samsung compact conveyer belt the WB550 continues the world's first trend with its 10x optical zoom, giving you the kind of advanced zooming that wouldn't look out of place on your typical SLR. Combine that with an ultra wide angle Schnieder lens and spotting that flock of indigenous birds from a mountain top can be captured with excellent results.
Both of these 12 megapixel cams include HD movie capture, 'Smart Auto' technology, Dual Image Stabilization, Full Manual Control and Face Detection.
Last but by no means least the PL10, with 9 megapixel resolution, is a multi-functional a camera as you can get. Whether you are watching your movies or listening to your tunes it's the multimedia cam for those who need that worthy back up to their conventional PMP. The all important camera features include Scene Recognition, Smart Album, Face Detection and Recognition which actually recognizes the faces that usually gets the most of your photo appreciation.
All three compacts will be available in April 2009 with the WB100 setting you back around £329, the WB550 around £299 and the PL10 pricing in at £179.
